I’m Kelsey, a Trauma Therapist in Katy, TX

“There are ghosts asleep inside every one of us: arcane issues never addressed, ancient griefs never laid to rest, suspicions, self-doubts, banished longings, secret meanings.”
David Richo, How to Be an Adult

People come to therapy for many reasons, but at the heart of it, something doesn’t feel right. You may be doing everything you’re “supposed” to do. Like working hard, showing up for others, trying to cope. Yet you still feel disconnected, unfulfilled, or stuck. You might sense that you’re not living up to your full potential, even though from the outside things look fine.

These experiences are more common than we often admit.

Kelsey Snavely, LPC

Unprocessed experiences have a way of surfacing in unexpected ways. Maybe substance use, anxiety, panic, depression, chronic stress, or repeating patterns that no longer serve you. You may tell yourself, “It’s not that bad,” or “Other people have it worse.” At the same time, the idea of digging into the past can feel overwhelming or scary. No one wants to reopen old wounds without knowing what’s on the other side.

I’m here to help you explore these experiences in a way that feels approachable, supportive, and paced to your comfort level.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience working in outpatient treatment settings, including intensive outpatient programs (IOPs), medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and with individuals navigating co-occurring conditions such as substance use and chronic illness. I specialize in working with adults facing substance use concerns, trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, chronic illness, and major life transitions.

I earned my bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Psychology from Southern Methodist University and completed my master’s degree in Counseling at St. Edward’s University. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a research-based trauma treatment that can be especially helpful for individuals who feel stuck or overwhelmed by traditional talk therapy.

Whatever you’re carrying, know that you don’t have to face it alone. Healing is possible, and there is no shame inreaching out for support.

My Philosophy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own lived experience. My role is to help you make sense of how your past has shaped you, gently process what’s been weighing you down, and support you in creating meaningful, lasting change.

I strive to create a comfortable, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and safe to show up as you are. Therapy isn’t about forcing yourself to relive painful experiences before you’re ready. It’s about building trust, stability, and insight so healing can happen at a pace that feels right for you.

I am trained in EMDR, a trauma-focused approach that can be effective for a wide range of concerns, including trauma, substance use, anxiety, and chronic stress. For some clients, EMDR offers a less verbal, less overwhelming alternative to traditional talk therapy. Allowing deeper work without needing to retell every detail.

My goal is to help you move beyond survival and coping toward a life that feels more grounded, intentional, and truly your own. Whether you’re navigating trauma, substance use, or a major life transition, we’ll work together to build healthier boundaries, increase self-understanding, and support your long-term well-being.

When you’re ready, I’m here to walk alongside you.
